Alice Frei

Alice Jeanette (Rowe) Frei passed away at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd on September 12, 2010 at age 97. Services for Alice will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Riverside Union Church in Brainerd, MN. Friends are welcome to gather Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Alice was born April 12, 1913 to LaVerne & Mae Rowe in Fredricksburg, Iowa. After her schooling she married Arnold R. Frei on February 14, 1936.

She assisted her husband who served as an American Sunday School Union missionary for 35 years. During this time they founded and directed Camp JIM on Hardy Lake for 50 years. Alice remained involved in the activities of Camp JIM as long as her health permitted. That ministry continues today.

She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter Ardella (David) Davison; Grandchildren Russell (Kim) Davison, Warren Davison, and Lanita (Don) Jewell; Great Grandchildren Hannah & Isaac Davison and Jovonna & Josiah Jewell; Siblings Shirley Watkins, Earl Rowe, Marjorie Aldrich, Judy Brighton, Betty Wood, and Genevieve Rowe and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, one brother and two sisters.

Memorials preferred to Camp Jim.
