Alice Benson

Alice Jean (Willis) Benson, 79, of Brainerd, died Monday, February 4, 2008 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Funeral Services for Alice are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 7, 2008 at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Reverend Andy Smith officiating. There will be a visitation Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd.
Alice was born October 8, 1928 in Jenkins, MN, the daughter of Harold and Borgild (Olson) Willis. Her mother died at a young age and Alice helped care for her family. She moved to Brainerd and graduated from Washington High School. She was united in marriage to Ralph Benson on January 7, 1951. Alice was a homemaker until the time she worked with her husband at Gustafson Center (formerly known as Paul Bunyan Lumber and Supply Company). They retired in 1984 and enjoyed traveling. Alice liked to golf, garden and ski. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Alice will be missed by her children, Sandra (Linn) Bergmann, of Plymouth and Scott (Brenda) Benson, of Hagerman, NM; two grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Bergmann; and her siblings, Wilma Durham, of Baxter and Harold Willis, of Onamia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ralph; her parents; her sisters, Donna and Artie; and her brothers, George, Johnny, and Wilbur.
