Alfred Eckes

Alfred John Eckes, 75, of rural Motley, died February 3, 2012 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley with Father Arlie Sowada officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. Interment will take place at Swan Valley Cemetery. Family would like to invite all to gather for a luncheon at the Leader Community Hall following services.

Alfred Eckes was born on October 15, 1936, in Leader, the son of John and Barbara (Smallwood) Eckes. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Hagemeister in Minneapolis in 1967. They later divorced. He worked for Cargill before dairy and beef farming near Leader. He also worked at the NFO Reload in Wadena. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, cribbage, attending gun shows and visiting with people.

Alfred Eckes is survived by daughter, Sandra (Ron) Williams, of Leader; granddaughter, Christina (Jamie) Kriesel, of Staples; great granddaughter, Addison; sisters, Barbara (Earl) Eckes, of Ramsey and Mary Sirucek, of Leader; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Morley and Lou; sister; Lorraine; and great nephew; Tony.
