Alfie Whitaker

Alfie Irene Whitaker died August 19th, 2012 at Bethany Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Brainerd, MN at the age of 86. A memorial service in her honor will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, August 24th at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 8443 2nd Ave. So. Bloomington MN. Graveside service at Bloomington Cemetary following service.

She was born July 16th.1926 to Oscar and Adeline Sletten in Chetek, WI. She attended Minneapolis School of Business and worked several secretarial jobs throughout her life. Alfie married Vernon K. Whitaker on December 23, 1947. They resided in Bloomington MN. They were involved in many community events and at their church Emmaus Lutheran. Alfie loved her Savior and was a strong witness for Him in everything she did. She loved to sing, sew, volunteer, feed and house family and friends.

Alfie is survived by her three daughters, Janet K. Brown (Jonnie Hayes) Poplar Bluff, MO, Jeanne Jorgenson (Gary) Baxter, MN, and Verna Whitaker, Brainerd, MN, four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Ivan Sletten, Stillwater MN and Loretta Wittig (Ken) Hubbardston, Massachusetts; sister in-law, Pearl Ratzlaff, Mpls MN; brother in-law, Walter Whitaker, Minot, ND; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Vernon K. Whitaker (1990) and several siblings and relatives. Memorials are preferred to Good Shepard Free Lutheran Church in Brainerd, MN.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
