Alex Ebertowski

Alex L. Ebertowski, 88, of Baxter, MN peacefully passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Essentia Health/St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Services for Alex will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00AM at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, MN, with Father Tony Wrobleski officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM at the church on the day of the service. Interment will be held at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery south of Brainerd, MN.

Alex was born on June 19, 1928 in Little Falls, MN to Leo and Rose Ebertowski. He was married to Geraldine Stegora on April 27, 1957 in Harding, MN. Alex was a WWII veteran, served with the 5th Air Force/Army Air Corps in the Pacific (Hawaii, Philippiness, Guam and Japan). After discharge he spent 3 years in the 440th Bomber Wing at Wold Chamberlain Field in Minneapolis, after his military service Alex worked as a heavy equipment operator, then became body shop manager at Dondelinger Chevrolet from 1964 until his retirement in 1990. Alex was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1647, having served as Post Commander 3 times. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 255. He served as a Color Guard Member of both the VFW and Legion. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Alex enjoyed the outdoors, from gardening to fishing and hunting. He loved being involved with his church and the VFW. Family was important t to him and he enjoyed his time with them.

Alex is survived by his children, Al (Marcey) Ebertowski, Ken (Tammy) Ebertowki, and Scott (Tina) Ebertowski; grandchildren, Nate (Tracy) Ebertowski and Justin Ebertowski; great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Alexander; and sisters, Lucille Knopik and Rose Nelson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Ebertowski; his parents, Leo and Rose; and two brothers, Raymond and Louis. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
