Albin J. ?Jerry? Palmer was born August 25, 1928 in Shafer, to Eldor and Mildred (Peterson) Palmer. He grew up in Litchfield and moved with his family to Minneapolis, where he graduated from Vocational High School. He served in the US Coast Guard from 1945-1947. He was united in marriage to Doris Schneider on March 23, 1957, in Minneapolis. He farmed from 1957-1966 and then sailed the Great Lakes as a wheelsman for US Steel until he became disabled in 1979. Jerry was a charter member of Crosslake Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, and traveling with his family. He was a patient, kind, easy-going man and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by Doris, his wife of 46 years; a daughter Debra (John) Backdahl of Crosslake; a son David (Annette) Palmer and their children Riley and Emma of Eagen; a sister Charlotte Knudson of Sioux City, IA; and two brothers Eldor, Jr (Margaret) Palmer of Grove City and Douglas (Irene) Palmer of Hopkins. His parents preceded him in death. Jerry?s family will direct memorials to the Cuyuna Care Center-Lakeview Wing, Crosslake Lutheran Church, and Parkinson?s research.
