Albert Holtan Jr

Albert BertNolan Holtan, Jr, 72, of Brainerd, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. A Memorial Service for Bert will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the First Congregation United Church of Christ with Reverend Michael Small officiating.
Bert was born October 16, 1935 in Lily, SD, the son of Albert and Anna Holtan. At an early age, Bert and his family moved to Columbia Heights where he graduated from high school in 1953. He was united in marriage to Sheila Lageson on July 29, 1955. The couple lived in various parts of the country, before moving to Brainerd in 1977 and purchasing a resort on North Long Lake (Holtans Resort). The couple also owned Fronteer Directory Company of Minnesota, Inc and Nevada. Bert was a member and past president of Midwest Publishers Association and a board member of the Association of Directory Publishers. Bert liked to fish, golf and travel.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Sheila; his children, Cynthia (Gary) Jackson, of Baxter, Timothy Holtan, of Brainerd and Henderson, NV, Keith (Jane) Holtan, of Trapper Creek, AK, and Heidi (Tom Cobb) Holtan, of Grand Rapids, MN; three grandchildren, Sarah and Anna Jackson and McKinley Holtan; eight sisters, Julie, Millie, Alma, Sylvia, Dotty, Lenore, Gloria, and Linda; one brother, David; and mother-in-law, Ina Lageson. Bert was preceded in death by his parents.
