Alan Case

Alan Case, 86, of Staples, MN passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa, MN. Services for Alan will be at 11:00a.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Chaplain Daryl Jacobson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

Alan was born August 15, 1930 in Staples, MN to Cyril and Lillie (Johnson) Case. He graduated from Staples High School in 1949. Alan worked for a taxicab service where he met his future wife, Nancy Spencer. They were united in marriage in Staples on October 4, 1952. Alan went to work for Northern Pacific Railroad, which later became the BNSF Railroad, where he retired after 42 years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cooking, and trying new recipes. He belonged to the Still Cruisin Car Club and had an antique car that he showed. Alan was a jack-of-all-trades and loved to tinker. He was also the shopper of the family. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alan is survived by his children, Brian (Brenda) Case of Waconia, MN; Nancy (Greg) Koval of Browerville, MN; Elizabeth (Ted) Kraemer of Osakis, MN; Dayna Mertens of Staples, MN; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Cyril and Lillie; wife, Nancy; infant son; son, Scott; and brothers Robert Case and Cyril (Bruce) Case.
