Al Johnson, 82, of Motley passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Lakewood Care Center in Staples. Funeral Services will be at 4P.M. Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Motley United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Ciesluk officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Church.
Allen Dale Johnson was born on May 30, 1928 to Arthur and Rena (Lund) Johnson in Ward Township in Todd County. He graduated from Staples High School. Al worked for the telephone company in Staples. He moved to Chicago. He was united in marriage to Gladys Sandberg . They lived in Hammond, Indiana where he worked for American Can for many years. Following his retirement they moved to the Browerville area near Horseshoe Lake. Gladys died in 1996.
Al was married to Delores Johnson in 1998. They moved to Motley where he's been a resident until his death. He was a member of the Motley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, dancing, feeding and watching birds. Al had a delightful sense of humor.
Al will be missed by his wife, Delores; daughter, Randi McVoy, Westfield IN; son, Mark (Lisa) Johnson, Lombard IL; Daughter-in-law, Frances Johnson; Stepchildren, Darryl(Connie) Johnson; Curtis (JoAnn) Johnson; Devona (Tyler) Johnson-Mohler; Chandra (Mike) Johnson; Caroline (Mark) O'Day; 1 sister, Carolyn Stanford of Georgia; 1 brother, Gordon Johnson of Browerville; 16 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Gladys; 1 son, Glen; 1 daughter, Gail; 3 brothers, Clarence, Floyd, and Orville; and 2 sisters, Mildred and Lila.
