Aimee Holmgard

March 15, 1917 — September 6, 2011

Aimee Marie Anderson Holmgard, 94, of Fifty Lakes, passed from this earth on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Care Center in Crosby, Minnesota. A gathering of family and friends will gather at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake on Friday, September 16, 2011 from 10:00-12:00. A luncheon will follow services at Fifty Lakes Community Center. Private Interment will be held at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.

Aimee was born on March 15, 1917 in Homestead, Montana. At the age of 18, she was married to Abraham Pattison and they had two daughters, Shirley and Mary Jane.
Following this marriage and after the girls were grown, Aimee met and married Clarence Christian Holmgard on February 14, 1953 in Dagmar, Montana. There they farmed with Clarence's parents and also had their children, Claire, Linda, and Neal. The family migrated to Echo, Minnesota in 1962 and to Willmar, Minnesota in 1965. They then moved to Coon Rapids in 1968 where Clarence worked as a carpenter. Aimee was a homemaker, sewing beautiful clothing for her children. She was a skilled artisan, creating lovely crocheted items, counted cross stitch, and Danish embroidery. She skillfully applied her artistic talents as a cake decorator supplying wonderful memories for children's birthday and holidays. In their retired years, they traveled throughout the country in their recreational vehicle, visiting US landmarks as well as family who resided in various cities. Following several incidents of health difficulties both for Aimee and Clarence, they settled in Fifty Lakes, Minnesota, next to their youngest son, Neal.

Clarence and Aimee never left each others side and it is believed that although she developed Alzheimer's, Aimee never forgot her beloved husband. Aimee will be missed greatly by her family and those who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence; sister-in-law, Lily; daughters, Mary Jane (children, Ester and Annette), Shirley (children, David, Tony, Barbara, Roger and Damine), Claire (Joel) (children, Mark and Sena), and Linda (Jack) (children, Timothy and Cory); son, Neal (Jane) (children, Nickolus and Nathaniel). Aimee is also survived by great and great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her parents, George M. Anderson and Alice Peterson; brothers, Bert, Ralph and Emanuel (Bud); sisters, Arlene and Lila.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake.
