Adeline Sorensen

Adeline Sorensen, age 95, of Staples, passed away at the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa, on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Services are planned for Monday, May 18, at 11:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples, with Rev. Robin Collins officiating. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4-6 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Burial will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

She was the daughter of Henry and Anna (Gallenbeck) Steckelberg. She was born in Lizard Township, Pochantis County, Iowa at home on November 12, 1913. She was baptized at St. Johns Lutheran Church on December 12, 1913. She was confirmed March 17, 1927. She graduated from Mora High School. On December 27, 1934, she married Arthur Sorensen, and they moved to Staples. They had two children. The family traveled for Arthurs work, living for a time in Minneapolis, MN, Spokane, WA, and San Jose, CA, before returning to Staples in 1945. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples. For a time, she was the president of the Alter Guild and of the LWML at Trinity.

Adeline is survived by her son, Dale (Gladys) Sorensen; grandchildren, Eddie, Sharri, Mike, Karen, Brian, Dian, Dawn, and Kevin; many great and great, great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Ed Dedina; and sister, Eleanor Englehardt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; daughter, Joan; her parents; one grandchild; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther; and brothers, Edward, Frank, Carl, Delbert, and Henry.

Adelines family would like to thank all those who cared for her at Central Todd County Care Center; her doctor and friend, Dr. William Mennis; and especially Ida Klappenbach.

Memorials are preferred to the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
