Adeline I. Peterson, age 96, of Motley, passed away at the Lakewood Health Systems Hospital on Wednesday, October 01, 2008. Her Funeral Service is planned for Saturday, October 4, at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Motley. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples. Adeline was born on September 22, 1912, in Esterville, Iowa, to David and Anna (Swift) Hunter. When she was five years old her family moved to Motley. She graduated from the Motley High School and then from the Staples Teaching School. On December 24, 1932 he married George Peterson in Long Prairie. She taught rural school in Todd County for 14 years, was in Pillager for a short time and the taught in Staples for 17 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Motley, joining in 1938. She belonged to the United Methodist Women, Grand People, and the Shamineau Birthday Club. She enjoyed doll houses, antique dolls, traveling and watching baseball especially the Twins. She will be missed by her daughter, Arla Allen of Motley; grandson, Steve Allen of Lakeland; great-grandchildren, Cory and Danielle; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; and three sisters.
