Karilyn Louise (Stover) Johnson, 74, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021.
Karilyn was born February 8th, 1947, to Eugene “Smokey” and Alvira (Johnson) Stover, in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up in Minnetonka, MN, where she graduated from Minnetonka High School and she met Terrance, the love of her life. Karilyn went on to attend Montana State and eventually fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a flight attendant where she worked at American Airlines. She married Terrance Johnson on December 30th, 1967, and they soon purchased a small hobby farm in Watertown, MN, which they called home for 44 years and raised their three kids. Karilyn was perhaps the kindest person you could meet. She was a devout Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, horse lover and member of the Kiwis. She enjoyed raising, riding, and showing horses at their farm, “Horse Feathers Farm.” She often volunteered her time at church events and services, sewing for her friends and family, creating crafts (there were many), and supporting her children and grandchildren at church, school functions, plays, and sporting events. Karilyn loved being “Grandma”. Holidays and family get-togethers were her favorite times where she enjoyed finding and preparing new recipes. Birthday parties by the pool or holiday dinners with family were cherished times. It wasn’t uncommon for Karilyn to work late into the night preparing for a family gathering where there was always “one more gift to wrap”, or “one more dish to finish”.
Karilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene “Smokey” and Alvira Stover.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Terrance, three children, Todd (Chrissy) Johnson, Amy (Anthony) Williamson, Trevor (Dawn) Johnson, brother Kris (Lynn) Stover, five grandchildren (Owen, Olivia, Bergen, Natalie, and Madelyn), extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 28th, 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, MN, with Pastor Jeffrey Engholm officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
