Julie Matzke

Julie A. Matzke, 65, of Nisswa and formerly of Minneapolis died Monday, July 22, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Essentia – St. Joseph Medical Center in Brainerd.  Private family services will take place at a later date.

Julie was born January 27, 1954 in Minneapolis to Harold and Eldora (Dammann) Danner.  She married Lee Matzke on February 20, 1982 in Nashua, Iowa.  Julie enjoyed going to school and learning new information; Obtaining her master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology.  She was employed as a nurse for Access Health Care, and previously for Naples Community Hospital, and Crosby Medical Center.  Julie found serenity at the lake home in Brainerd, the great outdoors, and fishing on the lake.  She also could be found shopping; especially finding treasures in antique stores.  Julie was loving, generous, intelligent and had a great sense of humor.  Her personality, companionship, advice and beautiful dimpled smile will be dearly missed by her family.

Julie is survived by her husband, Lee of Nisswa; daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Vangstad of Zimmerman, Chelsea (Luke) Hegerle of Elk River; grandson, Leif Hegerle, step-grandchildren, Damie Vangstad, Aly Vangstad; and brother, Randall Danner.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
