Joan Peterson

Joan Peterson died 12/20/2020 at her home surrounded by family after being diagnosed with cancer this summer.

She was born on 1/7/1941 to Walter and Genevieve (Schelhorn) Zettervall in Brainerd, MN. She was united in marriage to Roger Peterson 11/5/1960. He died in 2001.

She lived her years on the farm in the home that was built for their wedding. She farmed, delivered newspapers for the Brainerd Dispatch, cleaned, and sold sweet corn for 45+ years. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, dancing, ice skating, downhill sledding, snowmobiling, daily rides on her three wheeler, and water skiing until the age of 76. She saw the good in everyone.

Survivors include her six children, Janet (Douglas) Anderson, Donald (Tonya Heldt) Peterson, Linda (Russ Edin) Steffen, Lori (Eric) Forsberg, David (Mandy) Peterson, and John (Amanda) Peterson, her brother Irving Zettervall, sister Rita Steiner, grandchildren Jason, Dustin, Andrew, Robert, Benjamin, Kayela, Mitchell, Brooke, Zachary, Jordan, Joshua, Alec, Ashton, 11.5 great-grandchildren, and many special friends and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant daughter Patty, and her brother David.

Funeral services will be on Monday 12/28/2020 with visitation at 10am and service to follow at 11a.m at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, MN. Burial will be held in the spring at Gull River Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel-Baxter.

She will travel forever with us in our hearts. As she always said, ”We go now”.
