David R Cram passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, June 13, 2021. Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, MN. A visitation will take place one hour prior to services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
David was born on June 29, 1939 in Benson, MN. He was raised by his mom, Bertha (Svor) Cram, Grandma, and his three brothers. He loved playing sports all throughout school and being outdoors. He placed third place at the State Wrestling High School Tournament for Benson High School. David graduated with the class of 1957, and soon after moved to Minneapolis for more job opportunities and education. He pursued a career in drafting and engineering. David met Mary Granlund and in 1965 they were married in Minneapolis, MN. He worked for 3M Company for 29 years, and earned many awards. He designed a state-of-the-art tape coating station that is used worldwide in 3M tape plants. He developed a quality control adhesive shear test machine that is also used worldwide in 3M tape plants, and this design was nominated for a company-wide quality award. David also devised a unique slitting and winding line for 5000 yard long rolls of tape. This machine line was the first of its kind. He retired in 1997 from 3M and moved to Brainerd, MN to be on the lake.
David built a successful dock business in Jenkins, MN. He loved meeting new people and helping his customers. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, tennis, basketball, traveling on vacation, skiing, playing with all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. David loved family. He never stopped designing and creating. He also studied Spanish in MX, was an avid online chess player, and Stock Trader. David had to deal with medical challenges for many years and was a fighter to the end. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Bertha Cram; and brothers Willard, Melvin, and Allen.
David is survived by Mary, his wife of 55 years; children Kimberly (Timothy) Komro, Wiliam (Lori) Cram, Debra (David) Parkin; grandchildren Robert (Elissa) Komro, David (Dayna) Cram, Emily Komro, Desirae Cram, Corissa (Michael) Larson, Brandon Cram, Makayla Parkin, and Madison Parkin; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
